I can run as adminstrator without exception message. Also note that the programme does not appear in uninstall programme list. Do not know if this is of relevance.

Darren,

Left a post on another page. Getting nil except message on Vista Ultimate SP1 on a Toshiba P300/501 Laptop. Able to covert one file B4 getting message. Tried uninstalling & reinstalling. No luck.

to make this work on vista you need to change user security settings to “full control” on the program folder and children. After this is done you can start it normally and it also fixed the issue with the software not locating optical drives.

Try right-clicking on the shortcut and choosing “Run as Administrator”. Let us know how you go.

I am getting the NilObjectException error on my Dell XPS M1530, Vista Ultimate with SP1. It is also occurring with the new PCUser Ripping & Burning Toolbox 2009. Hope you can find a fix.

Aaron, try right-clicking on the DVD-HD 2009 executable file and choosing “run as administrator” and see if that solves the problem.

Hi Darren,
I’m getting the NilObjectException bug here. I’m using Vista Home Premium with SP1. Here’s something extra though: When I first install the program and click finish with “run DVD-HD now” checked it runs fine. That’s how I have it encoding at the moment. I only get the bug when I try and open the program again later. So a quick fix for now is to re-install each time you want to use it and run it from the installer.
On another note, I downloaded the installer from the PC User cover disc to my desktop. Now I can’t delete the installer. It says I don’t have permission. Do you know why this would be?

Hi Darren,

Was mucking around with UAC. When I first installed DVD HD 2009 I had UAC switched off. Then I swithced it back on today doing something completely unrelated and sure enough I got your exception. I then switched it back off and HD DVD works again. Hope this helps.

Dear Darren,

I use DVD Doubleshrink for my camera, tv tuner card and everything else. Awesome! Any chance of having audio suitable for Win Media Center in any of these converters? Love to throw away those avi converters.
