Q&A – How do I view .docx files?
A. .docx files are the new document format created by the latest version of Word in Microsoft Office. If you try and view them using previous versions of Office, you’ll probably have come up blank. If you don’t have office, you’re probably thinking you can’t read them.
Actually, you can – all you need is Microsoft’s Word Viewer and the compatibility pack – you can download both of these here.
If you’d rather steer clear of using Microsoft products, you can use the open-source word processor Abiword – it has .docx support and it will allow you to convert it to standard .doc format or a range of other options.
