Samsung announces 3D TV prices and availability
Korean electronics giant Samsung has announced the availability and pricing of its new 3D TVs, claiming to be the first to market in Australia with the new technology.
The new models combine three-dimensional viewing with LED-backlighting.
Samsung is claiming that the new models come at the “right price” for Australian families, stating that its 40-inch Series 7 LED TV cost $3299 this time last year while the new 3D version at the same size will now sell for $2899.
“We always knew that 3D was going to capture the attention of the Australian public but we knew that in order for it to be truly successful we needed to launch it at a price point that the ordinary family could afford. We’ve had an overwhelming response following the first days of product in store suggesting we got that price point right,” said Mark Leathan, Head of Marketing, Consumer Electronics, Samsung Electronics Australia.
A 46-inch version will sell $3699 while a 55-inch model will go for $4699.
Samsung’s 3D-ready Blu-ray player to go with them is expected to sell for $599.
All models are available from retailers today.
