How cheap can plasma TVs go – 42-inch plasma for $499?
When you start seeing 42-inch plasma TVs selling for $499, it’s enough to make you start asking just how low can these prices go.
Dick Smith Electronics is selling the Vivo PDP42HD as an online special.
But before you start doing handsprings, this is a low-resolution 1024×768-pixel model and doesn’t have sufficient pixels to show 720p video at native resolution. It has an HD TV tuner but will not show the same quality as full HD TVs due to its lower pixel count.
But with two HDMI inputs as well as analog video and audio options, the Vivo might make a decent backroom TV for the games console without having to break the budget.
