Ebook Readers – the floodgates open

In this month’s issue of PC User, I’ve written a number of stories looking at the Ebook Reader craze – the latest models, including the new Apple iPad, plus a look at Ebook formats, what they are and how they work.
We’re also produced a new video tool called RockPad, to enable you to turn all of your videos into the right format for the new iPad.

Worldwide smartphone sales boom nearly 50% in a year

Worldwide phone sales have rebounded 17% in the first quarter on 2010 on the back of a boom in smartphone sales, according to research analysts Gartner.
The latest research report reveals that 314.7million cellphones were sold in Q1 2010, a 17% gain over the same period in 2009.
Much of the gain came from a surge in smartphone sales, reaching 54.3million, the first time smartphones sales have cracked the 50million mark in one quarter. The increase is a massive 48.7% over first quarter 2009 results.
Not too surprisingly, phone vendors who controlled the software and hardware performed the best according to research.
